Zero Waste School Project Report, IDDS Educación

IDDS Educación participants and community members from the Zero Waste School team created three separate prototypes that seek to incentive recycling within the classroom: Caneca Educativa (educational wastebasket), Come Tapas (Top Eater), and Saca Puntas (Pencil Sharpener). Bait Cultivation System, IDDS Climate Change Adaptation

IDDS participants and community members designed a home-based bait cultivation system that can be used throughout the year and is not dependent on river conditions. The system can be used to acquire various forms of bait and is made of materials that are readily available in the community. This report is in Spanish.

Organic Weed Removal, IDDS Sisaket

IDDS participants and community members developed a double blade weed killer to address post-planting weed removal. The objective behind the device was to effectively remove the weed without the need for the user to bend over, and it can be easily pushed or pulled in the paddy field while keeping the weight as light as possible. The design is inspired by similar weed removal tools from African countries and Cambodia.

Hello Teacher Report, IDDS Lahore

Polyfarming Report, IDDS Amazon

  • Presentations & Reports

Participants at IDDS Amazon worked on improved integrated vegetable and poultry production techniques, including a system to support egg production and chicken husbandry, as well as the utilization of chicken droppings. Their final prototypes included a chicken coop that can host around 15 to 30 chickens, providing protection from predators at night, and a food garden that is fertilized by chicken droppings and in return, helps provide the chickens with a healthy diet.

Tumbling Fertilizer Producer, IDDS Climate Change Adaptation

IDDS participants and community members designed a device that facilitates the production of bochashi, a kitchen waste compost. It can hold approximately 440 pounds and is mcuh easier to use than traditional methods. This report is in Spanish.

S.M.A.R.T. Box for Sanitation Project Report, IDDS Aarogyam

IDDS  Aarogyam participants and community members from the Semma Clean group prototyped a low-cost Sanitary Materials and Resources Tools (SMART) box.  The prototype is an organizational device and sanitized box for treatment of equipment and supplies that reduces the risk of contamination, while facilitating health worker’s productivity.   For more information about this project,  see contact details on the final page of the report.
