Event Description

The Maternal and Neonatal Health Summit held in Tanzania in 2013 was the first-ever themed summit to be held by the newly-formed International Development Innovation Network.

The summit focused on co-creating solutions to specific maternal and neonatal health issues faced by people in poverty, particularly in East Africa. The themed summit was inspired by USAID’s Saving Lives at Birth: A Grand Challenge for Development.

•Low-cost blood pressure monitor
•Self-diagnosis tool for diabetics
•Pen-D - low-cost portable technology that men can use to measure vital statistics for babies during pregnancy
•Low cost stethoscope for mothers to measure the child's heart rate
•Portable incubator for domestic use without mains connection
•Hospital incubation system without mains connection, with functions for easy repair
