Reusing Rubble Project Report, IDDS Zero Waste

Cassava Processing Report, IDDS Amazon

Participants at IDDS Amazon built several prototypes to make cassava processing safer and more efficient, including two kinds of tumbling machines, a spinning station, a flexible peeler, and an ergonomic scraper.

CGUI TSAM Morama Nut Coffee Poster, IDDS Botswana

The Morama nut is indigenous to the Kalahari Desert. It is widely used in the D’kar community given its high nutritional value.  Theteam researched the possible different products that can be made from the Morama nut and tested out a Morama-based hot beverage called “Cgui Tsam” that could be produced locally, stirring up potential entrepreneurial activities.

Floating Platform, IDDS Climate Change Adaptation

IDDS participants and community members designed a floating device made from guadua bamboo, hermetic tanks, and threads from recycled plastic bottles to promote ecological tourism. The platforms can support approximately 1,500 pounds with space for multiple people and are composed of materials available in the community. This report is in Spanish.

Organic Methods for Apple Snail Management, IDDS Sisaket

IDDS participants and community partners collaborated with local farmers to understand their problems and find effective ways to reduce the invasive snail population and destruction of young shoots by juvenile snails. They designed an integrated duck farming system for rice growers. Ducks are introduced to control snails, weeds, and other pests. Duckweed is introduced to provide supplemental feed and nutrition to the ducks, reduce weeds, and provide nitrogen to the rice plants. Ducks can then be sold at the end of each season.

Best Practices for A Newly Established Academic Makerspace in a Nascent Maker Ecosystem

This paper discusses the different practices that can be infused in an academic makerspace’s culture to enhance learning and to remove barriers to making. Best practices with examples and their corresponding results observed at an academic makerspace in Pakistan have been discussed. The makerspace in question is the first and currently the only academic makerspace in Pakistan, appropriately named Make-i-stan. It is based in Information Technology University of the Punjab (ITU) which offers STEM degrees at undergraduate, graduate and doctorate level.

Safety Harness Vest Project Report, IDDS Aarogyam
